Incredible
Went to see The Incredibles last Saturday. Brilliant movie! You should really go and see it, if you haven’t already.
Mr. Incredible, at his dull job at an insurance company. Lucius Best, a.k.a. Frozone, played by Samual L. Jackson – you really recognise the actor in the character! And of course baby Jack Jack, especially at the end of the movie. All of them are just marvellous!
Before the feature film, one of Pixar’s short films was shown: Boundin’, also quite hilarious!
@Bristol
We were away for a few days to visit my brother and sister-in-law in Bristol, again.
And again, we went flying with Easyjet. We were probably somewhat late booking the flights, because there ware quite some differences in prices from one day to the next. Of course, we wanted the cheapest flights, therefore we didn’t go from Friday to Monday, but from Saturday to Tuesday!
So, we arrived on Saturday evening. We were picked up at the airport by my brother and his wife! (Last year, they didn’t have a car yet – they got it about one week after we left – so we had to take the bus then.) They brougt us to their new house.
“Hey”, the observant reader will say, “didn’t they move last year?”
Yes, you’re right, they did. But they moved again. That’s why we went to visit them, to see their new house!
This time they bought a house, and a very nice one too. Brand new, 5 minutes walk from the station, 5 minutes walk from a large shopping centre.
Strip
Instant Messengers, webmail accounts, subscriptions to mailinglists, different computers and online shops.
Do you know what these have in common?
They all need accounts, and each account needs a password.
Do you get what I’m hinting at? Are you familiar with that problem?
Software updates
Yesterday evening, I updated my laptop with some nice new software.
Naturally, I installed Mozilla Firefox 1.0, together with some very useful extensions, such as:
- the Web Developer extension (tipped by Vincent), with all kinds of functions that come in handy if you’re developing a web page,
- the User Agent Switcher extension, for when you come across a site that wants you to use IE,
- the Mouse Gestures extension, for executing common commands with click-and-drag,
- the Tabbrowser extension, giving a lot of extended tabbed browsing functionality.
Other extensions (see for example mozdev.org or Extension Room) that I still want to install, or at least try:
- Diggler, adding one powerful button to the address bar,
- Prefbar, adding a toolbar for quick access to your preferences,
- GMail Notifier, for… well, you can guess.
After Firefox, I installed the new Mozilla Thunderbird 0.9, also with some extensions:
- Enigmail, for PGP encryption and authentication,
- Forumzilla, for reading news and weblog (RSS) feeds.
Finally, I installed Konfabulator, after reading this entry on Mijnkopthee.nl. That looks really nice! I’ve been playing around with some of the widgets, but there are lots and lots more to explore!
How about:
- showing the battery level of your laptop with an analog fuel-gauge type meter,
- a clock that counts down to the release date of Star Wars Episode 3,
- keeping an eye on the Pittsburgh traffic.
Dubya
For the 59,459,765 silly Americans that re-elected George W.:
Dubya
While walking down the street, Dubya was struck by a large wheel of cheese that fell out of SwissAir flight 19.
Sadly, George does not make it and his soul arrives in heaven and he is met by St. Peter at the Pearly Gates.
“Welcome George!”, says St. Peter, “we seldom see Republicans here, so we’re not sure what to do.”
“No problem Pete, let me in, I’m worthy”, says Dubya.
“I’d like to but I have orders from the Man Himself, he says you have to spend one day in hell then one day in heaven so you choose where you’ll live for eternity.”
“I’ve made up my mind, I want to be in heaven”, says Dubya.
