TRATEOTU

Yes, I finished reading part two: The Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
Another book full of nonsense! In this book we learn about the end of the universe and that people come visit Milliways – the restaurant at the end of the universe – to watch the whole show.

In this restaurant, you can meet the Dish of the Day: May I interest you in parts of my body? Something off the shoulder perhaps?
After ordering, the animal walks back into the kitchen: Very good, I’ll just nip off and shoot myself.

On the Heart of Gold space ship, however, the Cybernetics Corporation Nutri-Matic Drinks Synthesizer still cannot produce tea.

“Share and Enjoy” is the company motto of the hugely successful Sirius Cybernetics Corporation Complaints Division, which now covers the major land masses of three medium-sized planets and is the only part of the Corporation to have shown a consistent profit in recent years.

HHGTTG

After reading Charl’s blog entry about the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy movie, I borrowed The Ultimate Hitchhiker’s Guide from him.

I’d heard about the book, of course, but I’d never read it. I had no idea what it was about. But reading it had been on my todo-list for quite some time. So after bugging Charl about it for a week or two, he finally lent it to me the other day.

I finished the first part yesterday evening. And it’s great! It’s hilarious!
It’s a fascinating story. Catchy, too. But absurd. With a lot of dry, absurd humour.

Bork, bork, bork!

This morning I picked up a couple of DVDs of The Muppet Show, I ordered earlier this week from the Free Record Shop.

Oh, I’m already looking forward to 7 hours of ROTFLMAO.

I ordered two boxes, the first one containing three dvds and the second one another two dvds. And all that for only 25 euros!

Wireless

Oh, how wonderful!

After a couple of weeks of fumbling around with a 15 meter long cable all through my house, after my old access point died, I can now finally work wireless again. Right now, I am sitting on the sofa in my living room – without any wires!

I just installed the wireless router I bought this afternoon, the Asus WL-500g. I still have to install my printer on the USB port, and perhaps once a USB harddisk for an FTP- or webserver.

For more info about installing a webserver on the WL-500g, check out this link or this one. (Via Binnenweg Blog.)

Seat Cordoba 1.6i GLX

Hurray, I’ve just transfered this car to my name!

It’s a black Seat Cordoba 1.6i GLX from 1995 with 127,000 kilometers.
Central locking with alarm and remote control, power steering, front electric windows, electrically adjustable and heated mirrors, radio/cd-player, and towing hook.
Very luxurious, compared to my old little Nissan Micra.

Back from Brixen

This morning we returned from our wintersport holiday in Brixen, Austria.

We had a great week, did a lot of skiing, met some nice people in our hotel, and took a few hours of private skiing lessons. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t very good. Snow (almost) every day, misty up in the mountains, so very difficult skiing conditions. But that didn’t stop us, of course. Apart from two or three lifts, we used every single lift in the area. See here for the card. The area is very nice, and pretty large with about 250 kilometers of piste and over 90 lifts.

Yesterday, our last skiing day, we met up with a girlfriend of ours (and her brother) who arrived with the same bus, that we took back home that evening! And they brought some great weather with them. Our last day was perfect, sunny – we even had lunch outside – and a lot of fun with the four of us.

On a side note, just before we left last week, we booked our honeymoon. We’re going to Greece for two weeks. When? Well, after our wedding of course. The date? May 20, just like those two zillion other people! Copycats!

Brixen, here we finally come

This afternoon, we will leave on our skiing trip to Brixen im Thale, Austria.

We are very much looking forward to it! According to the website, there’s two meters of snow in the mountains, so that’s good. Now let’s hope for some nice weather.
Check out the live webcams on the site now and again, maybe you’ll see us slide by.

So, this weblog will be rather quiet next week, but you will definitely hear more about Brixen when we’re back! See you in 10 days!

Carless no more

well… at least not for long.

Last Saturday I bought a new car. A new second-hand, that is.
I bought a Seat Cordoba 1.6 GLX from November 1995.
Still have to wait a few weeks though, I’ll get it by the end of this month.
