More stinkin’ viruses

AARGH!

In the last week, I have received 5 emails containing the Worm.SomeFool.Z virus!
A few weeks ago, I already got 3 emails with the Worm.SomeFool.P and Worm.SomeFool.Gen-1 viruses.

I say I received the emails, but that’s not true, of course. Instead, I was notified by the mail server that emails containing those viruses were sent to me but were intercepted by the viruschecker. That’s it.
As I’ve said before, it probably wouldn’t bother me much if I did get the virus, but still, I’m glad we have this virus scanner running on the mail server.

BTW, can anybody tell me why I cannot find anything about a SomeFool virus on the websites of Symantec Security Response or McAfee Security?

Update (May 24): I haven’t been able to read my mail for 4 days. I had 23 new messages just now, 5 of them were SPAM, 11 were viruses (the same Worm.SomeFool.Z) and one was a delivery failure notification of a mail I haven’t sent (let me guess: a virus?).

Stinkin’ viruses

In the last 5 days I have received 6 virus emails! (Update: 15 emails and counting!)

I don’t use Outlook at home, and I use Linux at work, so it wouldn’t bother me at all. Futhermore, our mailserver runs F-Prot Antivirus on all incoming mail, but still… it’s pretty annoying!

Microsoft Antivirus?

Read this on tweakers.net (in Dutch):

June 11, 2003: Microsoft buys RAV antivirus software from GeCAD.
What? Is Microsoft going to make their own virus scanner?

June 12, 2003: RAV AntiVirus ceases to exist.
“At the moment there are more than 10 million users and most of them use Linux.”

Ah, no, they just misuse their monopoly again and buy out the competition! That’s more like Microsoft… how typical!

Update: Have a look at this, it’s true after all…

June 18, 2003: Microsoft is going to develop own virus scanner.
