Revenge of the Sith
This afternoon, we finally went to see Star Wars: Episode III. Very nice. I had actually hoped Anakin could be stopped from turning to The Dark Side, but alas… ![]()
A minor drawback, I thought, is that the last part of the movie is more or less “predictable”, because you know of all the loose ends that have to be tied up, all the questions that have to be answered, since you already know the sequel. How does Anakin become Darth Vader?
What about his children?
, et cetera.
By the way, I recently found some of the Star Wars movie scripts, so I tried to collect all of them from various sites. I’ve got all six of them now. See my wiki. Upon my search I came upon The Internet Movie Script Database. If I had known that before… Anyway, if you want any other movie script, check out IMSDb!
Madagascar
Yesterday evening we went to Madagascar. No, not the country. The movie!
My brother and sister-in-law from Bristol were here for the weekend, so the four of us went to the cinema in Vlissingen. It’s a very funny movie about 4 wacky animals who… well, just read the rest from Ari’s weblog. BTW, I do agree with Ari that it’s not as good as, for example, Shrek. But it’s nice.

Incredible
Went to see The Incredibles last Saturday. Brilliant movie! You should really go and see it, if you haven’t already.
Mr. Incredible, at his dull job at an insurance company. Lucius Best, a.k.a. Frozone, played by Samual L. Jackson – you really recognise the actor in the character! And of course baby Jack Jack, especially at the end of the movie. All of them are just marvellous!
Before the feature film, one of Pixar‘s short films was shown: Boundin’, also quite hilarious!
Shrek 2
My girlfriend and I went to see Shrek 2 yesterday evening. We went to Pathe De Kuip, again. We also thought it was a very funny movie, although I wouldn’t say it was “hilariouser” than the first one. But maybe that’s just because the main characters were already familiar. I did like “Puss” very much, played by Antonio Banderas. But the “noble steed” Donkey (Eddie Murphy) is still my favorite!
LOTR: ROTK
It took me a month this time, but yesterday I finally went to see The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. The journey has ended.
Wow! What a great movie!
The story by Tolkien is fabulous, of course, with everything he created around it: the maps, the languages (with pronounciation!), the family trees, et cetera. But Peter Jackson also did a fantastic job, directing the movies, and keeping very close to the original story (as far as I can see).
Happy New Year
A very happy New Year to all of you!
I know, I know, I’m a few days late, but I’ve hardly been online in the past two weeks!
My girlfriend and I went to Lyon for a few days, just before Christmas. She has worked there for almost a year, about 8 years ago, so it’s like a second home town to her.
I’ve been Revolutions
Last Friday, my girlfriend and I went to see The Matrix Revolutions.
Yes… well… what can I say?
I had to see it, of course. I had seen the other two, so I wanted to see this one too. But it’s disappointing! No, not the special effects, those are great, as expected. But the story – it’s just too easy… It’s a shame, maybe they should’ve just stopped after the first one.
Finally, I too have been reloaded
It has taken me quite some time, but finally, I went to see The Matrix Reloaded, yesterday.
A cool movie, with great special effects, but everybody knew that already, of course.
I really enjoyed it, though it wouldn’t be a bad idea to watch it a second (and maybe even a third?) time, for certain things to become somewhat more clear…
I think I’ll read some of the links that Ari and Charl refer to.
In any case, I’m very much looking forward to the last part, The Matrix Revolutions.
In the mean time, I’ll just be checking the website regularly for the trailer. Only 106 days and counting…
Bruce Almighty
I went to see Bruce Almighty this weekend.
A very funny and entertaining movie, with Jim Carrey being given almighty powers, which obviously results in catastrophy!
Also a nice role for Morgan Freeman, playing God!
Hmmm… weird… though not as weird as Alanis Morissette in Dogma.
Anyone else know of any (well-known) actor or actress playing God?
The Two Towers
I’ve been to London between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
Went to see the apartment of my brother and his fiancĂ©e. They’ve lived in that apartment for about a year or so, but I hadn’t even been there yet!
We went to see The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers. Great movie! Well, at least for my part!
However, my future sister-in-law would’ve walked away if it hadn’t been for us. She didn’t dare to watch the massive fight scenes with all the horrid creatures like Orcs and Uruk-hai. Afterwards she kept saying she couldn’t believe the movie was for 12 years and older…
But, as I said, I thought it was a great movie… Looking forward to part three!
