Time for an update
It’s been way too long since my last post and I’ve been meaning to post something for about five months now, but it just didn’t happen, somehow. So, here it goes!
I’m going to post a few separate updates, but I will predate those, so you will see them below this one, just as if I posted them long ago. Nowbody will know I didn’t.
Links fixed
A few weeks ago, I found out that all links in my weblog to other weblog entries of myself, (or of Charl or Ari) had been broken after moving from cpbotha.net to WordPress.com. But I believe I have fixed them all, now!
Unfortunately, I did stumble upon some other, external, broken links, for example to old news items. I’m afraid I cannot do much about that, except make screenshots of all pages I link to… 
Otherwise, the Wayback Machine might be a solution?
Anyway, if you find any broken links, or other things not working properly on this weblog, please let me know!
WordPress
Hello world and welcome at my all new and shiny weblog.
As you can see, my weblog has been moved to WordPress.com. If you haven’t done so already, please update your link or bookmark to bvrolijk.net.
I have used the import function of WordPress to copy all of my old (Movable Type) weblog entries to this new system. I hope the conversion went all right, but if you see anything strange, please let me know.
Many thanks to Charl for hosting my weblog these past four-and-a-half years and for his help in the conversion.
PhD Thesis
The fact that I haven’t updated my weblog very much lately, doesn’t mean that nothing interesting has happened here these past months. In fact, it has been quite busy at times, for both of us – a lot has happened both on a personal level, but also at work.
The last few weeks have been especially hectic for me, but now I can sit down for a moment and take a breath: the final text for my PhD thesis is off to the printer! A few more weeks and I will have my own book! I still don’t want to think too much about the defence, though…
Anyway, this was one of the reasons it’s been somewhat quiet on my blog (to say the least). I’ll do my best to liven things up a bit around here… starting today.
Ten thousand!
Seventeen months after the previous milestone, the number of visitors of my weblog today reached one myriad!
On to 100,000!
Lapidation (2)
Continuing on the lapidation story, I would like to vote for introduction of the death penalty. And I don’t mean some “civilised” death penalty like a lethal injection, the electric chair, or hanging… I think lapidation is a good idea. I think the convicted should suffer a slow and painful death.
Of course I’m not talking about people who have committed minor offences, small delicts, or even larger crimes, like thieves and murderers… No, I am talking about the real scum-of-the-earth, the utter lowest life-form possible.
Yes, I am talking about the SPAMMERS!
Blog spam
After my spam blog some weeks ago, now it’s time for an entry about blog spam.
In one week, I have received 11 “comments” on my weblog, with random quotes, or something like “enjoyed reading your posts”, and then a SPAM URL about a medicin or online casino.
When will these people braindead bastards realise that spam DOES NOT WORK!
I would really loooove to fight back… just pick the URL from the SPAM and start ping flooding or something like that. And don’t stop for the next three years!
And as Charl just said to me: “Wait till I meet one of those spammers in some dark alleyway.”
Binnenweg Blog
My good friend Henk-Jan finally started his own weblog: Binnenweg Blog.
I hope I can help him get a few hits with this entry, and be found by google, of course!
And because he added a link to my weblog, I will return the favor and add Binnenweg Blog to my Links.
